OVERVIEW
In a continued quest to reduce pressure on the natural resources, the Project through the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MFL) is implementing a small livestock pass-on scheme involving goats and chickens as an alternative livelihood option for communities. Under this scheme, the project has promoted stress-tolerant poultry breeds and small ruminants (goats). Additionally, the Project is also assisting communities to set up sustainable livestock pastures, fodder banks and rangelands as well as controlling and management of livestock and fish diseases to increase resilience and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. The Project also supports the MFL in undertaking control and management of livestock and fish diseases affecting livestock in the province.
